ABOUT RIBERA DEL DUERO
Located in Spain’s Northcentral plateau about two hours north of Madrid and nearly 3,000 feet over sea level. Extreme continental weather with little rainfall, dry summers and freezing winters. Unique soil with alternating layers of limestone and marl. The Tempranillo grape, named Tinta del Pais or Tinta Fina in this part of the country, develops a thicker skin than in neighboring Rioja in order to withstand the harsh weather conditions, which yields more robust wines.
