ABOUT CELLERS TARRONÉ

Cellers Tarrone was founded by Rafael Solé in 1942 and is now run by his son José’s wife Mercedes Llop after he passed away in 1990. The estate is composed of 35 hectares divided up among 5 vineyards situated between 750 and 1750 feet above sea level with clay and chalk soils.

ABOUT TERRA ALTA

Located in the western part of the Province of Tarragona in Catalonia, “Terra Alta”, meaning “high land” is named after the mountainous terrain the vineyards are located on. It is of great natural beauty and features in many of Picasso’s paintings. The climate is a mixture of Mediterranean and continental. The summers are long, hot and dry and the winters are very cold. A dry wind, known as el Cierzo from the Ebro River valley is influential in keeping humidity low and thus protecting the vines from disease.
