ABOUT CHÂTEAU LE CHAY
Bought in 1897 by Jean Raboutet, Château Le Chay is now run by 6th generation winemakers Aurélie et Alexandre Peuch-Raboutet. Today, they grow grapes on 20 hectares of land on clay and limestone soils. The wines are aged in oak barrels and bottled on site. Following their desire to make wine in harmony with nature, in 2018 they joined the “Bordeaux Wine Environmental System Association” and were certified as HEV (High environmental value).
ABOUT BLAYE - COTES DE BORDEAUX
Blaye is an historic town located on the east bank of the Gironde estuary 20 miles north of Bordeaux, directly opposite the vineyards of Saint-Julien. The landscape around Blaye is visibly different – higher and hillier – from that just across the Gironde, and the area lends a picturesque element to the landscape of Bordeaux. The clay soils here are particularly well suited for Merlot and the now-rare-in-Bordeaux Malbec. They are known for their soft, supple, fruit flavors.
